Happy Whatever You Celebrate

I think that is going to be my new greeting for this time of the year. Enough of that talk. For the love of whatever person or thing you look to for guidance. Let's talk sports.

Girls Basketball - In probably one of the most complete games I have seen out of the RHS Girls this season, they took it to CVille 55-33. Big game Erin Lind and Taylor Wurtz. Wurtz as many of you know is being looked at by a couple of schools including Green Bay, Minnesota, and Michigan. Well Kevin Borseth Michigan coach showed up to watch the Ripon Girls manhandle Cville. Taylor "no pressure" Wurtz delivered one steal shy of a 3-dub (Triple Double - Points/Rebounds/Steals 10 or more per category) More importantly she played what I thought the most team basketball of the season. We all know she can shoot but it was nice to see her dish and look the floor. Also Erin Lind has anchored this team so far this season she is averaging a Dub Dub with points and rebounds, but more importantly has not gotten into foul trouble which plagued her a bit the last few years. Our thoughts go out to Kaycee Kolberg who went down with a nasty knee injury in Omro last Tuesday. Poor girl I feel horrible for her.

Boys Hoops - Well the win over Waupaca was nice but the lost to Xavier not so nice. I have yet to see a team as quick and physical as Xavier. Crisp passes, quick cuts, open shots. TEXTBOOK! Sean Dugenske is getting hot again in the point department, and the solid play from Mitch and Casey is great to see. Let's hope for good things.

Wrestling - Some day our schedules will align and head coach Mark Bradley will join me at halftime to talk wrestling. His grapplers are doing awesome with a solid core of some upper classmen walking the new guys through the life of high school wrestling.

What up!

Hey friends! Hope all is well. We are knee deep in snow and basketball and wrestling as the Winter Sports season is upon us. Couple of thoughts right now on some teams.

Girls Hoops - The depth of this team is incredible you don't lose a whole lot going down the line. The 1 2 punch of Lind and Wurtz has been kicking, but the play of Morgan Werch and Calla Schnell Harrison and the senior leadership of Carli Hron in your starting five is huge. I am looking forward to great things from this team. No pressure though! Ha!

Boys Hoops - After a win against C-Sport and a whopping by C-Ville the Boys team gets to face Berlin this week in the Berlin Gymnasium. I say bring it on. What a test. I have been impressed with the play of Andrew Cline who is new to the system but certainly not new to the game. He is a transfer from Berlin so it will be interesting to see how that goes for him. Tigers appear to me to be just a little timid in their shot taking but that comes with game experience and practice, something I am sure Coach Vander Plas will address

Wrestling - A big win over Winneconne a tough match in the Andrew Wallace Tournament but the Tiger grappler push on. Some big days from Peter Schroeder who went 4-0 and Travis Bender and Corey Kemnitz with 3-1 records in the tournament. Coach Bradley will join us soon during halftime of a game to talk wrestling.

This week the NFL is morning the loss of Sean Taylor from the Redskins. What a terrible story. A troubled pass but turning his life around and shot by some teenagers and killed. Just horrible, it's days like this, that snaps you back to reality.

Im Baaack Baaack Im Back in Black

What's up? How you been? Long time no speak. I have actually had a few requests to bring this blog back again so here I am. I will try to update as often as I can. In this blog I will talk about the things I usually don't get to cover in great detail on the air. Chances are I may say some things I shouldn't and I am alright with that. Send your comments to me I will be happy to respond. Here we go

Wrestling - A new conference and some new opponents should be fun. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to have to wrestle anyone from Freedom!

Girls Hoops - How far will they go? My prediction another New London match up in the Sectional Finals. This time the Tigers on top!

Boys Hoops - ????? Everyone has questions. How do you replace a guy like Scott Gillespie. I think some super sophomores are going to have to step up this year.

Packers - Just keep winning

Vikings - Ya you see correctly I am writing about the Vikings. I was the guy on draft day who took some rookie running back named Adrian Peterson and now I look like GM of the Year. His injury should only sideline him for a bit.

Warm up Music - Mark my words we will hear Crank Dat by Soulja Boy at least 637 times during Basketball warm ups. I will be keeping the Crank Dat Chart to document the number of times it is played during the year.

This Week's Musical Picks
Timbaland and One Republic - Apologize
Chris Brown & T Pain - Kiss Kiss
Five Finger Death Punch - Ashes

Here we go again!

To quote a Public Enemy song "Here we go again!" Its hoops season the time of the year I thoroughly enjoy. Basketball, basketball, and more basketball. Let's start first with RHS Girls. I know they have started a little sluggish in the last few games but they find ways to get it done. Coach Bill Peters has to love the fact that every girl on that bench can get in the game an work it. My two biggest suprises of the year so far have been sophomores Morgan Werch and Callie Langenhorst both have played some great minutes in the previous two games. The test will come this weekend when they play Reedsville on Saturday.

The RHS Boys open up this weekend in the Sheboygan South Tourney again this year taking on Sussex Hamilton. The boys roster runs 16 deep so there a lot of guys on the team, and excluding Gillespie, O'Brien, and Hill, there are not a lot of guys on the varsity roster with a ton of varsity minutes. It will be interesting to see what they bring to the table. Our first coaches show with Coach Vander Plas comes your way Friday morning at 7:20 am on AM 1600 WRPN.

The Tiger wrestling squad gears up for the Andrew Wallace Dual on December 2nd. We will have coach Bradley on during halftime of the next Ripon home game to talk about the wrestling squad.

Lets talk Packers, why? Well Bubba Franks isn't happy with his role in the offense, to which I say that's what happens when you club changes coaches Bubba. Deal with it or "Move Along" as the All American Rejects sing. ( I will work in a musical reference every chance I can get on here. LOL)

Weekly Biggie Awards;

Ripon Warmup Music Choice of the Week: My pick is going to the JV warmup CD with Fort Minor Remember the Name (That is my sleeper for this years most overplayed song in basketball)

Other Warmup Music Choice of the Week: Laconia Varsity Warmup CD Fergalicious by Fergie

Cool Halftime Contest: Laconia Spartans Pay a buck make a free throw you get a three pointer hit the three pointer you get a half court shot, hit the half courter you get $50. We saw it happen twice on Tuesday night.

That's all I got for now. Happy Thanksgiving. Until next time...Rock on \m/

Get Up Come Get Down With The Sickness While We Do The Safety Dance

Whats up blogomaniacs? Short sweet and to the point today. The Bigster isn't feeling to whippy the last few days but we trudge through it. The Tiger footballers suprise us again with the come from behind victory against Chilton in OT. To quote a parent "If people haven't gotten their three bucks worth in the last two games something is wrong" I agree! Peter Schroeder was the man of the nite on Saturday and had a lot to do with the victory He gets my game ball.

SSSS-AAAA-FFFF-EEEE-TTTT-YYYY - SAFETY DANCE - Another classic call from Aaron Kramer. To quote the mayor, and now the city of Ripon can dance, and if you don't dance. then your no friend of mine. Casper wrote a blog about it, people are calling me at the station to get the Safety Dance played, I even did the "No Friend of Mine Remix" available exclusively at www.wrpnam.com in the Sports section. It's a blast to have that animation in the game though. Ripon is a lucky city to have the Mayor and Luke on the call.

That's all I got.
